3 Important Usability Features

July 31, 2013

There are many elements that go into making a website usable and it can be easy for one of them to ruin the success of your website. You can think of these as the big three of usability. If one of these three are missing then your site will have multiple issues, the biggest one being conversion. Conversion is essential to any business that has an online domain, and without it you could loose out on a lot of potential business.

A Clear Navigation

This is extremely important for the first impression of your website. A user needs to be able to easily look at your homepage and identify a clearly marked navigation system. If they have to click around until something happens then they are more likely to get annoyed and leave your site. You shouldn't have to tell your users where to click, it should be clearly defined.

Well Written Content

Once again I want? to emphasize how important content is, and for usability you need to make sure that your content is clear and concise so that the user can understand what it is your site is providing. If you are selling a product or offering a service than make sure you make that easy for the user to understand right on your homepage.

Design with thought

When you design your website or? a landing page make sure you keep the user in the back of your mind. You might think this a great chance for your designers to show off their skills with cool graphics and color but to your audience it might just be annoying. Keep the design simple so users don't feel overwhelmed.
