Patrick talks about the importance of writing your sites content and the dangers of outsourcing.

Video Transcription

You might have seen a lot of outsourced content writing firms that are popping up online all the time these days. And one of the things you might be thinking is why write my own content or have my marketing agency write content for me when I could just farm it out for just a couple hundred bucks a month.

There are a few things that you may want to think of. The first one is that they’re not the experts on your topic and your industry, you are.The next is that you are going to have to spend so much more time fact-checking and checking for plagiarism to make sure the content isn’t being used elsewhere on the Internet. The last thing you want to think of is that a lot of these firms aren’t native English speakers, which means you’re going to have to spend more time editing it and making sure that they are able to get the point across in a clear and concise way.

So when you are starting to write your content strategy for the year 2013, you should really think about writing in-house or partnering with firm or an agency that really knows your industry and understands your audience and what you’re trying to achieve.
